Misunderstood masterpiece of 80s

The Story of a Young Heart (+7 bonus tracks) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The band A Flock Of Seagulls knows today virtually no one. The band is more like a secret. Of the songs you might know I Ran, Wishing or Modern Love Is Automatic, which are sometimes found on the 80 samplers.
What remains most likely depend on the band, is the look. About the Department is still making fun today in most programs of the 80s, even in the comedy FRIENDS Chandler runs in a series with this strange hairstyle rum.
The band has in comparison to other typical 80-bands but at least something of their own sound, but which is difficult to explain. There are floating guitars with much delay and reverb plus spherical keyboards. Many bands of recent times have copied this sound neat. Just listen to only The Killers. Who likes bands like The Cure is likely to feel with A Flock Of Seagulls also well.
The Story Of A Young Heart is the third album by the band and dates back to 1984. For me it's the best album of the band. While the first album has the most known songs and almost all large firecracker on board, but also a few cucumbers. The second album has lists with Wishing (Photographer) an absolute About song. The rest sounds but rather half-baked.
All 9 songs on story, however, are consistently audible. Overall, the album is down a quiet, romantic and melancholy than its predecessors. Everything is kept in Moll. There are also less sound experiments. Was a big hit it from the plate not, although there can be found some of the greatest classics of the band. The title song, Never Again (The Dancer) Remember David and especially The More You Live The More You Love there four of them. Remember David is the only real rocker from the album and for me the best track here.
The music of Heart Of Steel almost sounds like The Sisters Of Mercy at the time of Vision Thing. Great Southern Land Icehouse also has a similar sound or rhythm.
In the new edition of the CD there are some bonus tracks, including single and maxi versions and B-sides. The absolutely outstanding piece of it is Living In Heaven. The song is almost better than all album tracks. Why this was not packed to the actual album is my absolute mystery.
The remastering is compared to the remasters of the first two drives better managed. Sounds best album but still from the original vinyl LP.
Conclusion:
If you like the sound of Ultravox, Tears For Fears and The Cure from the early to mid 80's or today's bands like The Killers and White Lies, who was to give A Flock Of Seagulls a chance. Just the debut and The Story Of A Young Heart are very good albums.
