Face Value Gold Edition CD by Phil Collins (2010) Audio CD (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Hello,
To describe Phil Collins and his Face Value - well, I think, for many many years, you can save the details here. I am one who is on the 80's and Phil Collins is for me an absolute must. It would now not so, as I had not yet the disc - no quite the opposite - LP edition, Maxis in black, the CD of course, etc., etc.
And now this issue here ... and it was worth it. The new mastering audio fidelity - in persona Steve Hoffmann - really succeeded. The "originals" (LP / CD) Although sound very clean but also very analytically, perhaps a little flat - very typical of really good stuff from the 80s.
And the sound engineer knows his craft. It is this issue more volume. This applies to the lower regions and also the root area. Phil's voice now sounds good 20kg heavier :-) I like this very section of mastering very good indeed. In Bass has risen somewhat wisely and without the punch of the drums to water down, clearly particularly good to hear in "In The Air Tonight". The top floor was slightly revised; the high tones are a little tangy, clean in the tracing. Otherwise, I might mention, which was the average level, although raised to exaggerate but without it. The CD edition is already very cautious.
Technically facilities has changed nothing. The CD provides up to the Gold Edition of the disc really nothing new - very great pity, in my opinion, here the waste makers, who want to have a lot of money for such a variant their actual chance. That's why only four stars from me. The CD itself is also made very easy for the rest - well that's nothing special.

Recommended for the fan - certainly. For the audiophiles as well.

Greeting, Rounder6
