But now, the Hunger Games are captivating. It is not only after completing a tome we immediately want to read the following, it is also and especially for those chapters which do not allow to lay the book. Suzanne Collins has the gift to make us the mouth water with twists. And where it really works for me anyway, is that I really want to move forward in the book I naively read what is given to me without asking questions and that the twists are, mostly, unexpected.
Let's talk about this last volume, since this is the one I have chosen to comment. Katniss has suffered and is reluctant to take the role of mocking jay that the rebels, very pressing moreover, ask him to endorse. Some were disappointed to be Katniss and carry the baton. Personally I thought it was very consistent: Suzanne Collins does not try to make us believe that Katniss is the heroine par excellence. Certainly, she is courageous, but from the beginning the author showed us his faults and games have broken as they would have broken anyone. It is the symbol of a revolution that transcends completely, she only aspires to protect his family and must mourn his life in the twelve district. From this point of view, Suzanne Collins spares neither his characters or his readers. Witness the dead shovel, or the plight of Peeta and Gale tipping in a rebel-you-die side that suggests that Katniss chooses neither one nor the other. We prefer Peeta or Gale (because everyone takes sides, as I have seen in other reviews), we appreciate honesty, kindness, affection he has for the first Katniss and courage , lucidity, the voluntary nature of the second. Okay, I admit I have always preferred Peeta, who knows why. The fact is they are suffering, and we. It is even harder, even if it is a world that no longer so similar to ours, one feels like something real well with human beings, only humans.
As for the end, it is always the point that angry in this type of story. Some said it was disappointing. Certainly, there is an advanced fatalism (even games, those of life) but a good dose of hope, the promise of a new world on the whole and some simple happiness.
Reading this trilogy has been significant, this is the least we can say. You would be wrong to deprive yourself even if you are not really a teenager. It is an entertainment device and an object of reflection. I ask no more a book to please me.
So I liked. Real or not real? Real.
