They are Heavy Metal Pirates!

Sunset on the golden age (CD)

Customer Review

For those who do not know yet these fanatics (and this is wrong), Alestorm is somewhat a cross between Korpiklaani and Turisas maritime release: a festive folk and metal music with over the drunken sailor banter Christopher Bowes, the ship's captain. The group has already offered us three albums, and each was worth his powder keg. Here is the fourth offspring of our pirates, entitled "Sunset On The Golden Age." Paré Labordage! And no quarter!

Again, the metal pirate concept in full swing and that, upon the album sleeve, probably the most successful of their discography. And the 2014 campaign still takes us on the seas, stopping of course by all the taverns of the ports. Here was overwhelmingly festive titles for braille cut in chorus in pubs, the mug in hand. So listen to the aptly named "Drink," "From Hell Mead", "Quest For Ships," "Wooden Leg" or "Surf Squid Warfare". You will see, your legs start to move themselves, your head starts delle himself to follow the often frenzied tempo. The synth sounds with Christopher Bowes daccordéon inevitably leads us to the dance. Humor is always present: how to take seriously what "Wooden Leg" where the singer Braille us on the refrain "wooden leg, peg leg, I have a wooden leg!" Derision not nempêche music BE seriously played it. The riffs are not there to not laugh, surly when necessary ("Walk The Plank", "Surf Squid Warfare.")
Some moments are quieter too, where folk laspect spring a little more (verses of "Magnetic North" and the very catchy "Hangover" and "Oh Oh Oh" in shambles). This song is a cover of a title dailleurs dance-pop Taio Cruz feat. Flo Rida. And it does! Just like when the band resumed (one might even say "sétait appropriate") "Wolves Of The Sea" of a shadowy group participating in the 2008 lEurovision.
So obviously, we find on this new album a few choruses somewhat resembling others present on previous albums (how to chant "Walk The Plank" is irretrievably think of "One More Drink" of "The Norwegian Sunkn" for example) but you will not blame them as we pass a good time tuned to this new album packed (in both directions) of energy and good humor.
And for a pleasant change, sajoute to this the most epic tracks ("The Battle Of 1741 Cartagena" and the title track) about the adventures on the seas around the world of course. Since Running Wild, it was known that Metal married very well with the theme of piracy and Alestorm today is the best evidence.

Alestorm was all good again. Fans will be delighted with this new burst catchy titles. And for those who do not know yet, it is not too late. Alestorm The ship is ready to conquer the seven seas.
