Reign In Blood (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Slayer`s legendary 28-minute shocker of 1986, not only must for every heavy metal band, but also made one of the first works of the genre is that reaped even pop culture attention. This was due solely to Slayer`s cooperation with the then hip-hop producer Rick Rubin. Rubin, who exclusively with rap and hip collaborated hop artists such as LL Cool J, Run DMC or Jazzy Jay until this production, the young band from California offered a recording contract with his own label "Def Jam" and took with them their third album. "Reign In Blood" is not like most trash metal albums this time built up and dispensed with extended instrumental passages and a dramatic construction. The album is characterized rather by its lightning-fast songs and their merciless hardness and is the hardcore punk often very close. The guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman play up to the pain threshold for noise and deliver a duel after another. The permanent exchange between restlessly-whirring, often very schnellen- but also slower, rhythm guitars and messy-squealing solos are powerful and dynamic. The lyrics are often about murder and violence and are often controversial. So Jeff Hannemann`s was "Angel Of Death" accused many years later flirtation with Nazi Symolik. On later albums, also directed Rick Rubin, the band was able to evolve musically positive and increase their success. "Reign In Blood" will probably always remain her fiesestes and bissigstes work.
