Introduction:
I think that for the majority of amateur and professional photographers to zoom 24-70mm and 70-200mm combination with the most widely used is to be found so currently.
Since I already have the Tamron SP 24-70 2.8 Di VC USD, fit as a supplement course the I tested here Tamron SP 70-200 VC USD 2.8 Di.
Here's my impression after the first 2 weeks with many certainly an interesting piece.
Scope of supply:
+ The Tamron SP 70-200 VC USD 2.8 Di
+ Warranty card (5 years with registration)
+ Cover for bayonet and lens
+ Lens Hood
First impression, feel and processing:
The lens comes well packed in a neat box home.
The processing to its predecessor has improved significantly, what it shows on weight. In direct comparison to the competition from the houses Canon and Nikon is still there a little narrower and lighter. The lens is made mostly of very high quality plastic and nothing moves which are not supposed to move. Creak or wiggle No, all handled very well.
What stands out first thing in the use, the different arrangement of the zoom and focus ring.
Here goes Tamron another way as its competitors. Behind the lens hood sits the zoom ring at the beginning it was a bit strange to use but once you get used to it once, you have a better handling. It feels in direct comparison to the more stable state as the normal arrangement. Who himself is or was the gun club, the attitude is very familiar with, and it makes even more that you can hold the lens quiet.
The focus ring has been very narrow in the Tamron and the videographers not inspire. Since I hardly capture video, I can not comment on that, I like that it is relatively small because it so much the danger has accidentally intervene in the focus.
Tamron has her also approved a seal protects against splash water and dust, resulting in the lens category now belongs to but the competition will cost significantly more.
Autofocus:
Here, the Tamron has over its predecessor boast an extreme increase. The drive from USD Tamron ensures very fast and accurate focusing. The AF system of the D800 it really shows what it can do. Quick, very accurate even in extreme conditions. Here I take a test always happy about a large 2x2cm metal cubes of very low contrast edges offers. Even in conditions in which ISO 25600, needs at f2.8 1 / 14tel second, the autofocus is sitting on the point. And the repeatable and constant. Here the focus is on the same level as the Canon or Nikon competition. The AF speed is absolutely a very high standard and if you have not VRII directly next door a Canon IS 2.8 II or the Nikon 2.8, you notice no difference. That's very impressive.
Stabilizer:
Impressive, just impressive. More is not really to say. With 200mm of VC nailed the image in the viewfinder just like that, it's fun. At 200mm are 1 / 20tel to keep without any problem. The best thing I could keep sharp at 100% sharpness was 1 / 4tel second at 200mm. Here Tamron again shows how well their system works. This was the 70-300 VC USD indeed already and it's really astounding that can afford the Tamronsystem there. Purest fun if you do not know and so that it creates a level at least pari's with the more expensive competitors. Very good Tamron.
Sharpness and contrast:
Here, the predecessor was already at a good level and was able to inspire many people. Tamron has nothing but worsen here just at the long end can refuel again. What it is making here simple and clear sharp, No Doubt. The contrast is not as easy as dimmed in the competition at the same level but that's easily corrected as blur. The Tamron shows over the entire image a higher power as the current competition and through the entire zoom range. The center is sharp but minimal after the Canon and Nikon competition. So here also Tamron can show what is currently possible for the price.
Vignetting, distortion, CAs and Bokeh:
Now we come to a point where the Tamron falters a bit, the vignetting.
This is available through the entire zoom range, but can be removed in Photoshop and Lightroom with one click. This problem exists only at KB, on the D7000 you can tell them anything.
The 70-200 is a distortion hardly existing theme, here too, the Tamron is no different from the competition.
Now to willingly utilized Bokeh, here too, no weaknesses. All very nice and soft and creamy, lights are round and show rings. So should it be, and is also a very high level. Nikon or Canon differences are minimal and are more likely then when the background as to the lens.
CAs so far I could not produce. Even in very harsh lighting situations with strong brightness edges I could no CAs produce Super.
Conclusion:
Hui, what can I say. I was actually convinced to buy the switch to which the KB VRII Nikon if properly then was my first thought. The first contact the store with the Tamron let me think and I came to the decision to give him a chance. You have to remember that you can buy a loose 85 1.8G for the saved money, which I did halt;)
The Tamron has not let me down and shows up to date as it can go at a good price. Sharp, fast and precise, so must be simply a 70-200 2.8. Each of a 70-200 2.8 examined with stabilizer, the Tamron should definitely look at it.
