As it is now, the new album from deadlock. The most noticeable changes are the exchange of ex-bassist John Gahlert the microphone and the switch to 8-string guitars. The first song "The Great Pretender" brettert immediately uncompromising forward. No intro, no small gimmicks. The song goes according to usual deadlock schemes. Guttural vocals in the verse and Sabine Scherer's clear vocals in the chorus. Nothing groundbreaking new, but also of the usual high quality. The same can also be on the two following songs say ("I'm Gone" and "Dead City Sleepers"). The title track comes first with a few electronic gadgets therefore, but is changing relatively quickly then again in a typical deadlock song. "Darkness Divine" and "As We Come Undone" are also good songs to deadlock Art. What then is surprised but a little. To the sounds of a piano deadlock present us here a ballad that is entirely borne by Sabine Scherer. Ballads are of course always - especially when they break out of the usual type of music - a matter of taste. The track is mMn clearly audible and well implemented. Whether is perhaps too much bathed here in kitsch, well everyone should decide for themselves. With "The Final Storm" again follows a real impact in the face before reign with the Bronski Beat Cover "Smalltown Boy" again quieter tones. A well-made cover of a song that was actually already totgecovert. However, it can argue about whether the song would have been really necessary. The same applies to the last number of the plate, "My Pain". Again supported by Sabine, it depends here, as with "Hurt" probably a matter of personal taste. The number is well done, no question. Whether, however, had to make sure to complete an almost dancefloor compatible song about it can probably also argue.
Another word for sound. The production is really bold and clear. Great sound! The switch to 8-string is a good decision. The new man at the microphone does its job extremely well. I was while listening to the first pre-led tracks "Dead City Sleepers" initially a bit skeptical as I have to say that the little keifendere vocals of John Gahlert but very well introduced in the overall sound after a short familiarization period.
A great album, which would, however, also well-managed without the 2 last songs prima.
