I opted for this type since I found out in the various forums that just this Skil-product when searching for electrical wires - crucial for me - provides the best result. Just as it is. I have tested some installed electrical cables and they always found. Ideal with the ever faster beeping and ascending arrows observed. The line area could be restricted to a small area after a few tests.
A tip to all: the result is greatly improved when either switch on the light or, for example into an outlet connecting a consumer or other device is connected. So power is required.
Whether in search of metal, etc. also is so good, I can not answer based on present knowledge.
